Grey/Flake Iron (EN-GJL / GG)

Product Features

In Grey/Flake Iron (EN-GJL / GG) cast iron, the free carbon takes the form of lamellae. The microscopic magnification below shows this clearly. The cast iron thus formed is characterized by good tensile strength, density and wear resistance. Grey/Flake Iron (EN-GJL / GG) also has a high vibration damping capacity.

Features Provides slightly higher notch strength and ductility than EN-GJS-400-15 (GGG40), reflected in its higher elongation at break of 18%. It is slightly tougher and more resistant to deformation than EN-GJS-400-15. EN-GJS-400-18 has better properties at lower temperatures than EN-GJS-400-15. This is due to its higher ductility, making it less likely to become brittle and more resistant to thermal shock.
